The race for Marshfield Mayor in the spring election is shaping up. Two people have taken out nomination papers to run for the position. They are Bob McManus and current District 6 Alderman Tom Witzel.

Longtime Mayor Chris Meyer is not running for re-election after serving five two-year terms, which will end in April.

Aldermen Mike Feirer and Ed Wagner have already announced their intentions to run for re-election to the city’s Common Council.

The odd numbered aldermanic districts are up for re-election, along with all of the Wood County Board supervisors, three seats on the Marshfield Board of Education, and a number of state and local judge positions, including one on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Candidates who take out papers will now need to obtain the required number of nomination signatures for their particular race, and have those filed by Jan. 2.

If there are more than two candidates for any office, a primary would be required and that would be held on Feb. 20. The spring general election is slated for April 3.
