Girls Basketball: Columbus extends winning streak

Marshfield Columbus Catholic won its fourth straight game, dominating Granton 53-12 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Nov. 30 at Granton High School.

The Dons (4-1, 2-0 Cloverbelt Conference East Division) ran out to an astounding 41-0 lead by halftime on their way to the 41-point victory.

Marissa Immerfall had 17 points and Addison Baierl added 10 for Columbus.

Auburndale remains undefeated

Auburndale improved to 4-0 this season, with a narrow 44-42 victory over Athens in a nonconference game Nov. 30 at Athens High School.

Isabelle Hilber had 14 points, six steals and five assists, and Maggie Willfahrt added 11 points for the Apaches. Hannah Bolder added 11 rebounds and six points in the win.

Auburndale led by six at halftime and was able to hold on despite making just 7 of 16 free throws and turning the ball over 19 times.

The Apaches topped Adams-Friendship 48-32 on Nov. 28, at home, as they cruised out to a 20-point lead by halftime and held on from there.

Hilber had 13 points, and Marissa Ponshock added 10 points and nine rebounds for Auburndale.

Stratford loses third in a row

Colby outscored Stratford by double digits in both halves and rolled to a 62-39 victory over the Tigers in a nonconference game Dec. 1 at Stratford High School.

Colby (2-2) led 30-19 at halftime and outscored Stratford (1-3) 32-20 in the second half, sending the Tigers to their third straight loss.

Taya Nett had 10 points and Kaylee Hollatz added nine for Stratford.
