Over $40,000 was raised to end domestic violence in the lives of women and children at Shirley’s House of Hope, during the 9th Annual Marshfield Iron Chef event, held Nov. 2 at RiverEdge Golf Course.

The evening began with a silent auction and appetizer contest between the competing chefs.

While a meal was served, the chefs were given their secret ingredient – lamb – and 30 minutes to prepare an entrée for the judges.  Serving as judges were: Melissa Corteen , Marshfield Fire Chief Scott Owen, and Dr. Narayana Murali.

Receiving awards were: Chef Max Mason, West 14th Catering & Special Events, for Most Creative; Chef Ron Weis, The Vintage House, Showmanship; Chef Wally Walberg, Libby McNeill’s, Best Flavor and People’s Choice; and Chef Matt Smallwood, Holiday Inn, Best Presentation.

Shirley’s House of Hope is a faith-based domestic violence shelter for women and children hurting from domestic violence in the community.  To learn more about Shirley’s House of Hope please visit www.ShirleysHouseOfHope.org.
