Richard John Weister, 84, Marshfield, died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Stoney River Assisted Living, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 2:00 pm on Friday until service time.  Rev. Dan Behnke will officiate. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Richard was born on October 8, 1933 in Marshfield, to William and Caroline (Steffen) Weister. He married Arla Mae Hintz on September 20, 1957 in Marshfield.

As a young man, Dick worked for his uncle in construction and then began his own business, Dick Weister Construction. He did light construction in and around Marshfield. Later his son, Bill joined him, and it became Dick Weister and Son Construction. Dick loved working with his hands and demonstrated it by building many houses. He bought property behind what is now Marshfield Middle School and developed it and named it Weister Court. He built all of the houses on it, two of which they lived in.

Dick had served in the National Guard and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served on the church council as president. He also was a member of the Elks Club in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arla and their children, Vicky (Terry) Steinmann of Green Bay, William (Carey) Weister of Marshfield and Jennifer (Christopher) Castle of Westfield, IN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Heidi, Kyle, Clayton, Tabitha, Sarah and Charles and 3 great grandchildren, Alexander, Ava and Ryker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Marcy Weister and Patricia Faucher.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Faith Lutheran Church Endowment fund and placed in the general fund.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
