MACY launches new community drug survey

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY) and Marshfield Clinic Health System are conducting a survey on illicit drug use. The purpose of this study is to gauge levels of the Marshfield community’s perception and awareness of prescription drugs, heroin, marijuana, and methamphetamine use.
In 2016, 1,125 participants completed the survey, and results indicated the following:
—Seventy-six percent of community members felt illicit prescription drug use was a moderate or serious problem in Marshfield.
—Seventy-five percent felt heroin use was a moderate or serious problem in Marshfield.
—Seventy-three percent were moderately or extremely concerned about the effects of illicit prescription drug use in Marshfield.
—Seventy-seven percent were moderately or extremely concerned about the effects of heroin use in Marshfield.
The survey is intended for people who live or work in the Marshfield area. Responses are voluntary and anonymous.
