SPENCER — A commercial construction company plans to set up headquarters in the Spencer Business and Industrial Park.
“I’ve been talking to PhaseOne Construction Services for several weeks now trying to negotiate a parcel that they are interested in,” said Paul Hensch, Spencer village clerk. “Right now their proposal is to build a 50-by-60-(foot) garage and attached 24-by-20-(foot) office.”
Hensch said that the building would have an assessed value of $180,000.
“They are, however, asking for a written first option to acquire a second lot adjoining the lot that they are interested in with the intention to expand in the next 24-48 months,” he added.
PhaseOne specializes in steel stud construction and currently has locations in Owen, Wausau, and Milwaukee. The move would bring the three locations into a single facility.
“They want to consolidate and consolidate right here. … I think this is a good investment for our business park. (It would) bring good jobs to the area and provide much needed revenue in our TID (tax incremental district),” said Hensch.
On Oct. 9 the Spencer Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the agreement with PhaseOne.
Hensch said that the company has plans to pour concrete this year.
