CRANDON — The Auburndale football team won a playoff game for the first time since 2014 with a resounding 35-7 performance over Crandon on Friday night in a WIAA Division 6 Level 1 game at Crandon High School.

The Apaches (6-4) move into Level 2 where they will face a familiar foe, Marathon (7-3), on Oct. 27 at Marathon High School. Marathon defeated Auburndale 35-13 in Marawood Conference action Sept. 22.

Against Crandon, Auburndale senior quarterback Ryan Isaacson threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns, including two to Colton Yeske.

Auburndale trailed 7-6 after one quarter, but from there the Apaches dominated as their defense did not allow another score. Crandon was held to 141 yards, all rushing, as it missed on all six pass attempts. Auburndale corralled two interceptions.

Cale Jacoby (4 yards), Cam Ertl (24), and Yeske (26 and 16) caught the TD strikes from Isaacson, who completed 13 of 19 passes.

Trayton Weister added 109 yards rushing, and Isaiah Hasenohrl had Auburndale’s final touchdown on a 2-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
