Marshfield man leads officers on chase through city

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — On Sept. 30 Marshfield police were called to the Kwik Trip located at 101 N. Central Ave., where a witness reported observing an impaired driver nearly hit a parked car.
The witness identified the vehicle, and officers located it traveling on Central Avenue. According to the criminal complaint, an officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver accelerated, reaching speeds of 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.
The driver failed to stop at the intersection of East Ives Street and North Peach Avenue as well as the South Peach Avenue and East Fourth Street intersection.
The driver led officers to his Marshfield residence before surrendering. The driver was identified as 20-year-old Stone K. Fure. Fure was charged in Wood County court for operating while intoxicated as well as felony attempting to flee/elude a traffic officer. Fleeing is a class I felony charge that could result in a $10,000 fine, three years and six months imprisonment, or both.
