MARSHFIELD — Wausau East scored three unanswered goals to take the lead and held on to beat Marshfield 4-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer game Thursday at Griese Park.

Kyle Tremelling scored 5:16 into the game to give Marshfield an early lead, but East rallied as Isaac Westberg and Sam Petralia scored before halftime, and Max Sorenson had a goal 5:34 into the second half to give the Lumberjacks a 3-1 advantage.

Tremelling scored again four minutes later to cut the Tigers’ deficit, but East added another goal 3½ minutes after that, and the game was scoreless for the final 32 minutes.

Kevin Cassidy assisted on both of Tremelling’s goals for Marshfield (4-11-1, 2-8-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Marshfield finishes its WVC and home schedule Thursday against Wausau West at 4 p.m. at Griese Park. The Tigers play a nonconference game at Onalaska on Saturday to end its regular season and will learn their WIAA playoff matchup later this week. Playoffs begin next week.
