GILMAN — The Spencer volleyball team won three of four matches to finish second at the Gilman Invitational on Saturday.

The Rockets (13-18) beat Elmwood 25-13, 25-23; Cornell 25-15, 25-11; and Alma Center Lincoln 25-18, 25-18 to reach the championship match, which they lost to Phillips 25-15, 25-22.

Lexi Baehr had 32 kills and 45 digs; Sadie Mercier had 40 digs, 55 assists, and four blocks; and Chloe Drews had 15 kills, 11 aces, and six blocks to lead the way for Spencer.

“We played a little more consistent today,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “We had a shot at first if we cleaned up our side of the net. Hopefully we build off today going into the playoffs.”

Spencer plays a Cloverbelt Conference Crossover third-place match at Altoona on Tuesday to finish its regular season.
