Marshfield volleyball wins one match at second WVC meet

Tigers move to 4-7 in conference play

WAUSAU — The Marshfield volleyball team finished 1-2 at the second Wisconsin Valley Conference meet of the season on Saturday at Wausau West High School.

Marshfield lost its first two matches, falling to D.C. Everest 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-17) and Merrill 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-7, before beating Wausau East 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-19).

Karly Nikolai had 29 kills; Lindsey Steffen had 33 digs, 22 kills, and seven service aces; Madison Nelles added 21 kills and five blocks; and Corianne Johnson had 85 assists and six aces for the Tigers. Johnson passed the 1,000-assist mark for her career.

Kaydee Johnson led Marshfield with 37 digs, and Hannah Meverden had nine blocks.

Marshfield (4-7 WVC) wraps up its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Tuesday at home against Stevens Point.
