Tigers finish regular season next Friday with homecoming game against Wausau West

SCHOFIELD — The Marshfield football team is playoff eligible after posting a resounding 36-0 victory over D.C. Everest on Friday night at Stiehm Stadium.

The Tigers shut out their second-straight opponent and improve to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the Valley Football Association West Division.

By securing no worse than a .500 record in conference play, Marshfield is eligible for the WIAA playoffs, although not guaranteed a spot. With a win Oct. 13 at home against Wausau West, the Tigers would secure a berth in the postseason for the first time since 2013. Marshfield’s homecoming game at Beell Stadium will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.

With the loss, D.C. Everest is eliminated from playoff contention as it falls to 2-5 overall and in VFA West play. The Evergreens wrap up their season Oct. 13 at Wisconsin Rapids.
