SCHOFIELD — The Marshfield boys soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie against D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Thursday night at D.C. Everest Middle School.

Tamirat Knutson scored at the seven-minute mark for D.C. Everest, and Marshfield’s Evan Weister countered, on an assist from Grant Urban, at the 31:31 mark to tie the game.

Neither team scored over the final 58 minutes.

Marshfield is now 4-10-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the WVC, and Everest moves to 9-2-3 and 5-2-2 in conference play.

“It was a great game with our boys playing a really competitive game with a really good team,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “We got better as the game went on, and I was happy with our improved passing and intensity.”

The Tigers play at Rhinelander for a nonconference game Friday.
