COLBY — The Friends of the Colby Public Library will soon bring Senior Vice President of Marian University George Koonce Jr. to Colby.

Koonce, a former Green Bay Packer also known as the “Doctor of Defense” and a Super Bowl XXXI champ, will be giving a presentation in the Colby High School theater on Oct. 14.

He will also attend the Colby High School home football game on Oct. 13 to toss a few footballs into the audience. The Friends of the Colby Public Library will draw tickets from the crowd for people to receive Koonce’s book, “Is There Life After Football? Surviving the NFL.”

Koonce’s presentation will cover how his life changed after his career in the NFL was over. He will speak about concussions, furthering his education, respect, and much more.

After the program he will stay and sign autographs for attendees, who are asked to bring only one item per person. There will also be copies of his book, footballs, and pictures for sale that he would also autograph.

The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m., and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and children kindergarten age or younger are free.

For more information or questions, call or text Vicky Fischer at 715-316-3010, Becky Schmelzer at 715-797-0398, or Ruth Blume at 715-223-5074.
