Step back in time: Sept. 24-30 in Hub City history

Ten years ago
Celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends recently were Arnold and Clara Federwitz of Marshfield. Arnold was born in 1914 and Clara in 1915, and they were married Aug. 11, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt.
Twenty-five years ago
Recently joining Jewell/Manson Insurance in Marshfield was Debbie Amidon. She was named manager, and her duties included overseeing 14 staff members.
Fifty years ago
Nine Wood County men who comprised the September draft call reported to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for basic training. Those inducted from Marshfield included Robert Hennes, volunteer Jerold Whipple, and James Wilke.
Seventy-five years ago
Five Marshfield High School agricultural students who conducted fertilizer trials on their own farms this year saw remarkable results using commercial fertilizers. The five students were Wilmer Draheim, Robert Montgomery, Dave Britten, Robert Gadke, and Jim Weigel.
