NEILLSVILLE — The Spencer volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Neillsville 3-2 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division match Tuesday at Neillsville High School.

The Rockets won the first set 25-22 before Neillsville forged ahead, winning the next two 27-25, 25-21. With their backs against the wall, Spencer rallied to win the final two sets — 25-18, 17-15 — to improve to 4-1 in Cloverbelt East play this season.

“We really had to fight through injuries and unforced errors, but we battled all night,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said.

Sadie Mercier had 16 kills and 20 digs, Lindsey Loos had 33 assists and 15 digs, and Kathryn Hall also had 15 digs for the Rockets.

Spencer is off until Oct. 3 when it plays at Colby.
