MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI), in cooperation with regional partners, recently announced the 2017 Heavy Metal Tour will take place on Oct. 4. The Heavy Metal Tour, now in its sixth year, provides thousands of eighth-grade students across central and northern Wisconsin the opportunity to tour manufacturing facilities and learn about careers in metal manufacturing.

The Heavy Metal Tour is a result of collaboration between regional chambers, technical colleges, the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, and the Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance.

School District of Marshfield students will tour two different manufacturing-focused businesses over the course of the day. During a lunch session, students will learn about the options technical colleges offer those interested in pursuing manufacturing careers.
