MARSHFIELD — Hundreds of people attended Blue Heron BrewPub’s Oktoberfest event on Sept. 9. The annual event benefits an area nonprofit organization, and this year’s recipient was Opportunity Development Centers (ODC).

“The obvious reason we chose to support ODC this year is that we know they benefit the community in so many ways,” said Paul Meier, co-owner of Blue Heron BrewPub with his wife, Rita. “We see their value in a practical way as well because the people we employ through them do such a great job.”

“We are so honored by the generosity of Paul and Rita,” said Pam Ross, ODC president. “They have been great partners with ODC for so many years. They recognize the value of hiring individuals with disabilities and the importance of building a more inclusive workforce and community.”

ODC has served individuals with disabilities in the Marshfield area since 1965 by providing skills training and assistance in finding employment. The organization also offers services that help individuals in becoming more engaged and active in their communities. Over the years, the BrewPub has hired a number of individuals through ODC’s employment services.
