MARSHFIED — A Marshfield man was jailed after allegedly trying to cut another man with a knife and start a fire in his home.

According to the Marshfield Police Department, Damon Laru broke into the home of a man he had a relationship with around midnight Sept. 9 and tried to start the man’s bed sheets on fire and cut him with a knife. Laru then cut off three of his own fingertips and tried to frame his intended victim for the incident.

Laru was being held in the Wood County Jail, unable to post a $30,000 cash bond.

Laru is being charged with four felonies, including burglary-armed self with a dangerous weapon, first degree recklessly endangering safety, aggravated battery, and criminal damage to property over $2,500, as well as a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
