Krueger, Bohman score rushing touchdowns for Tigers

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

STEVENS POINT — A strong defensive effort and a long touchdown run by Brant Bohman lifted the Marshfield football team to its second-straight win, a 17-14 decision over Stevens Point on Friday at Goerke Field.

Marshfield held Stevens Point scoreless through three quarters, and Bohman’s 56-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave the Tigers enough breathing room to hold off the Panthers.

Marshfield is now 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Valley Football Association West Division. Stevens Point drops to 1-4 and 0-4 in conference play.

Ryan Krueger had a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead at halftime.

Mason Coffren kicked a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter, and after a Stevens Point touchdown, Bohman ripped off his long TD run to put Marshfield up 17-7.

Bohman had 65 yards rushing, Krueger added 46 yards on the ground, and Isaiah Baierl rushed for 44 yards as the Tigers controlled the clock through their running game.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids (3-2, 2-2 VFA West) next Friday, Sept. 22, at Beell Stadium. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
