MENASHA — The Marshfield boys soccer team nearly overcame a four-goal deficit but came up just short, dropping a nonconference game to Menasha 4-3 on Friday at Calder Stadium.

Menasha scored all four of its goals in the first half before the Tigers stormed back.

Isaac Wellens scored 8:54 into the second half, and Kyle Tremelling added another goal with just less than nine minutes remaining to cut it to 4-2.

Wellens hit on a penalty kick with 50 seconds left in regulation for the final goal as the Tigers came up one goal short of pulling off a tie.

Austin Mannigel had three saves in goal for Marshfield, which drops to 3-6 this season.

Marshfield plays at Wausau West on Tuesday.
