Marshfield freshman football rolls past Ben Franklin

Nikolai runs for three TDs, throws for three more to lead Tigers

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield freshman football team improved to 2-1 this season with a resounding 40-22 win over Stevens Point Ben Franklin on Thursday at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield quarterback Will Nikolai accounted for all six Marshfield touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of 1, 7, and 58 yards, and he threw three TD passes to Simon Slade for 38, 41, and 55 yards.

Seth Peterson kicked four extra points, and Dane Tollefson had a fumble recovery for the Tigers.

Marshfield’s leading tacklers were Michael Wright, Justin Post, Seth Kleinschmidt, Damyon Hains, and Tollefson.

Marshfield’s next game is Sept. 21 at Wausau West at 4:30 p.m.
