Columbus Catholic soccer beats Tri-County, earns third-straight CWC shutout win

Dons now 2-0 in conference

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team pitched its third-straight shutout in Central Wisconsin Conference play by beating Tri-County 6-0 on Thursday at Griese Park.

The Dons remain unbeaten in their last seven games (6-0-1) and are now 6-0 in the CWC and 7-2-1 overall. Tri-County remains winless at 0-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Nadim Torbey had another hat trick, and Tom Nystrom, Evan Dieringer and Kevin Nguyen each added goals for the Dons.

Calvin Brown had two assists, and Dieringer, Matt Olson, and Kellen Delaney also assisted on Columbus’ scores.

Nystrom opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the first minute of action, and Torbey hit two goals in a four-minute period to put the Dons up 3-0 just 6:31 into the contest.

Dieringer, Torbey again, and Nguyen added goals to put the Dons up 6-0 in only 16:33 of play.

Columbus returns to action Monday at Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt at the Portage County Youth Soccer Complex in Stevens Point at 5 p.m.
