MARSHFIELD — Marshfield won just one event and had two second-place finishes as it lost to D.C. Everest 127-43 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls swimming dual meet Monday at Marshfield High School.

The meet was Marshfield’s WVC opener. D.C. Everest is now 2-0.

Freshman Alyssa Franks won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:44.50 for Marshfield’s lone victory. She won the race by about 4½ seconds as she continued a solid start to the season in the event.

Franks teamed with seniors Sophie Koehn, Elizabeth Lecker, and Erika Roeglin to place second in the 400 freestyle relay (4:12.40), and freshman Kaitlin Alberts was second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.56) for the Tigers’ two second-place finishes.

Emma VanErmen and Jordan Tatro each won two individual events, and Tatro was part of two relay wins as well for D.C. Everest.

Marshfield will compete at the Chippewa Falls Invitational on Saturday, its final multiteam meet of the regular season.
