Step back in time: Sept. 3-9 in Hub City history

Ten years ago

Joining the gastroenterology department at the Marshfield Clinic’s Marshfield Center was gastroenterologist Genci Babameto. He served as an associate gastroenterologist at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, before coming to the Marshfield Clinic.

Twenty-five years ago

The 1982 class of Marshfield Senior High School recently held its 10-year class reunion. Members of the reunion committee were Linda Britten-Smith, Dona Stargardt, and Kathryn A. Kuehner.

Fifty years ago

The men’s championship of the Marshfield Country Club was won by Wally Noll, who beat Dick Umhoefer in a 36-hole final match Sunday. Winners with Noll in the 18-hole finals were Jim Seidel, Sam Willfahrt, and Ed Pfahning.

Seventy-five years ago

A meeting was held at Hub City Alleys, and a 12-team industrial or businessmen’s bowling league was formed that would bowl Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. Officers for the new league were President “Duke” Eckes, Vice President H.J. Braehm, Secretary M.B. Hicks, and treasurer Bert Eckes.
