AUBURNDALE — Defending WIAA Division 7 state champion and perennial powerhouse Edgar rolled into Auburndale on Friday night for a Marawood Conference football game, and the Apaches did not have an answer for a tough Edgar defense.

The Wildcats held Auburndale to just 62 total yards and forced four turnovers in a 43-0 victory at Auburndale High School.

Edgar remains perfect on the season, improving to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Marawood Conference, while Auburndale had its two-game winning streak snapped and drops to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Kaleb Hafferman returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown, and Edgar scored five times in the first half.

Edgar quarterback Karson Butt had a pair of touchdown runs, and Ty Guden and Cole Literski added two more as the Wildcats built a 36-0 lead by halftime.

Mason Stoudt had the final rushing score for Edgar in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats ripped off 227 yards rushing on 32 carries with Williams Raatz leading the way with 61 yards.

Auburndale’s top rusher, Jacob Peplinski, was limited to just 34 yards on 12 carries, and quarterback Ryan Isaacson completed just two passes and was intercepted three times in the loss. Auburndale managed only two first downs in the game.

Auburndale plays at Tomahawk (1-3, 0-2 Marawood) next Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
