MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield boys soccer team suffered its second-straight shutout loss as it was blanked by Wisconsin Rapids 7-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday at Griese Park.

The Tigers managed 11 shots, five on goal, but could not get any past Wisconsin Rapids goalkeeper Carson Crotteau.

Jack Kiiskila scored five times and assisted on the other two Rapids’ goals, both by Nickolas Willards.

Wisconsin Rapids (4-1, 3-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) scored five times in the first half, three of them coming in the first 7:04 of the game.

“We had a few defensive breakdowns, combined with some nice offense by Wisconsin Rapids, resulted in the lopsided score,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “They ran some nice one-two passing plays and slotted some nice balls into some quick diagonal runs.

“Offensively, we have guys pounding the ball in practice, shooting really well. We need to see some of that transfer to the game. It will come.”

Marshfield (1-3, 0-2 WVC) plays at Merrill on Thursday.
