SPENCER —  A new Mexican restaurant opened Aug. 18 in the site of the former Buttercup Restaurant at 212 S. Pacific St. in Spencer. La Morenita, which loosely translates to a dark-skinned woman, is owned by Manuel Garcia Perez and his family.

Open Tuesday through Sunday, the restaurant offers a mix of Mexican and American cuisine available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For more information visit La Morenita’s Facebook page.
