MARSHFIELD — The American Legion Post 54 and Main Street Marshfield recently announced that the Marshfield Honor Walk for 2018 was completely sold out. The Marshfield Honor Walk will consist of 60 2-foot-by-5-foot banners dedicated to individuals who have served their country through military service.

The banners will be displayed on both sides of Central Avenue from Veterans Parkway to Ninth Street from May 15, 2018, to Nov. 15, 2018, to coincide with Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Paul Rogers, the coordinator of the program, explained that in addition to honoring veterans, the banners raise funds for the American Legion Post 54 and Main Street Marshfield. He went on to emphasize the scope of this endeavor was for five years starting in 2018 with 60 banners each year.

“I remember when I was a kid,” Rogers said, “and I walked Main Street to window shop. Now I can and will walk Main Street to enjoy and be thankful for all these wonderful men and women who served our country.”

Mike Feirer of the American Legion Post 54 said approximately 18 banners are left for the 2019 Honor Walk, and he will be taking reservations for them.

A sample banner will be on display at the American Legion Post 54 booth at the Central Wisconsin State Fair Aug. 30 to Sept. 4, 2017.
