A press release from the Marshfield Police Department
MARSHFIELD — At 12:23 a.m. on Aug. 25, Marshfield officers responded to a report of a 4-month-old baby that was not responding at 612 N. Chestnut Ave.
Upon officers arriving, they found the infant girl not breathing and with no pulse. Lifesaving efforts were made by officers, and the child was turned over to Marshfield Fire and Rescue paramedics upon their arrival on scene.
Lilith E. Gavigan — born April 29, child of Matthew Sherd and Thesla Gavigan — was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Lilith is scheduled for an autopsy on Aug. 25 in Madison.
Investigation into the death is ongoing. Upon completion of the investigation, more information may be released.
