WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 51-year-old Vesper man has been charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI), fourth offense, in Wood County court following a July 16 traffic stop.
According to court documents, Wood County officers stopped Lot L. Smith II on Hemlock Road in the town of Hansen after Smith swerved into the opposite lane of traffic.
Officers could detect the odor of intoxicants as he attempted to perform standardized field sobriety tests.
Smith submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed a result of .237. He admitted to consuming six beers in a two-hour period at his home prior to driving.
Smith has been charged with his fourth OWI, a class H felony that comes with up to $10,000 in fines or six years imprisonment or both.
