Simplicity announces initial plans for Thomas House building

MARSHFIELD — Having completed initial negotiations on the purchase of the commercial property at 103 S. Central Ave. in Marshfield, Simplicity Credit Union has started the initial planning for use of the Thomas House property.
“We are fortunate that this historic building was available when we were looking for a space.” said Pat Wesenberg, Simplicity president/CEO. “With the combination of the lease on our current Marshfield Mortgage Center expiring and the expansion of our back-office staff to better meet the needs of our members, space had become a concern. With the purchase of the Thomas House, we’ll be able to provide a beautiful, welcoming space for our mortgage and commercial members and workspaces that will attract top talent to our team.”
The closing, currently scheduled for late September 2017, will signal the end of the nearly yearlong first phase of the expansion project for Simplicity, which included a needs assessment, cost analysis, and members of the Simplicity team touring several spaces in the downtown Marshfield area.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to purchase and preserve a building that is clearly important to many in Marshfield and the surrounding area,” said Ben Bauer, Simplicity director of marketing, “and it’s gratifying to know that we’ll be able to expand in a way that’s not only healthy for our downtown but in keeping with our commitment to be good stewards of our members’ money.”
