STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield Junior American Legion baseball team came from behind to beat Antigo 7-6 in an elimination game at the 17U regional on Friday afternoon at Bukolt Park.

Marshfield (19-6) moved on to play again Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Antigo scored three times in the first inning off Marshfield starter Tyler Spaeth.

The Blue Devils clawed back to take the lead, scoring a pair of runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Riley Boushack and a Spaeth fielder’s choice that drove in another run.

Marshfield scored three times in the fourth to take the lead. Mitch Wilhelm had a double and later scored on a wild pitch, Ben Gust delivered an RBI sacrifice fly, and Spaeth doubled home Boushack to give the Blue Devils a 5-3 lead.

Antigo regained the lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it did not last for long as Marshfield scored twice in the top of the sixth to go back on top.

Boushack had a triple and scored on a groundout by Devyn Palmer, and Mason Coffren drove in Caden Schillinger with a single to put Marshfield up 7-6.

Jacob Earll threw two shutout innings to earn the save for Marshfield.

Wilhelm went 3-for-4, and Logan Schreiner, Ryan Zickert, and Boushack each had two this for Marshfield.

Plover scored seven runs during the first two innings and held on from there to beat the Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team 8-2 on Friday night at the 17U American Legion baseball regional at Bukolt Park.

The loss by the Blue Devils (19-7) eliminates them from the regional and pushes Plover into the championship round scheduled for Saturday.

Marshfield hosts the Wisconsin State 17U Junior Legion Tournament next week and earns an automatic spot in the eight-team field. Marshfield will play in the final of four games on Wednesday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field. The double-elimination tournament will run through July 23.

Coffren had an RBI double in the sixth inning, and Earll scored on a passed ball in the seventh for the Blue Devils’ lone two runs.
