MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team continued its hot streak with a pair of tight wins over D.C. Everest on Monday night at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield won 6-4 and 2-1 to extend its winning streak to eight games and wrap up its regular-season schedule with a 17-5 overall record and an 11-4 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Legion League.

In the opener Marshfield trailed 4-0 after three innings before scoring twice in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Ben Gust and a sacrifice fly by Jacob Earll.

The scored remained 4-2 until the sixth when the Blue Devils rallied with four runs to pull out the victory.

Earll had a double to plate Joey Goettl and Logan Schriener to tie the game. Earll later scored on a wild pitch, and Tyler Wein knocked in Caden Schillinger on a ground out to give the Blue Devils a 6-4 advantage.

Goettl retired the side in the top of the seventh to save it for winning pitcher Will Voss, who struck out eight in six innings. Earll finished with three RBIs, and Goettl and Hunter Weik each had two hits in the win.

In Game 2 Marshfield scored both of its runs in the third inning. Tyler Spaeth singled and later reached home on an error, and Mason Coffren scored on a sacrifice fly by Schillinger to put the Blue Devils ahead.

Devyn Palmer earned the win, allowing one run and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. Riley Boushack got the final two outs to earn the save for Marshfield.

Marshfield begins 17U regional play on Wednesday at Stevens Point. Its first game, at Bukolt Park, begins at 7 p.m. against the host team. The double-elimination tournament continues through Saturday.
