MCPL – Spencer Branch hosting pickling, railroad presentations

SPENCER — At the Marathon County Public Library – Spencer Branch on July 10 from 6-7 p.m., Jackie Carattini, family living agent with Marathon County UW-Extension, will present Introduction to Pickling Vegetables, a lesson on the best techniques for pickling cucumbers, dilly beans, and other vegetables. Carattini will also share recipes and answer attendees’ pickling questions.

Along the Railroad Tracks of Marathon County, a program on the history of railroading and local railroad companies, will be offered at the Marathon County Public Library – Spencer Branch on July 11 from 9-10 a.m.

Gary Gisselman from the Marathon County Historical Society will present this program, which will focus on the history of railroad companies in Marathon County and the towns through which they used to run. Gisselman will present information and pictures and will also take questions from the audience. This program is part of the historical society’s History Speaks series.

Both events are free and open to the public with no registration required. For more information call 715-659-3996.
