Marshfield Junior Legion wins home tournament with rout of Chippewa Falls

Blue Devils improve to 15-5 with 17-hit game

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 Junior American Legion baseball team pounded out 17 hits in just four innings to blast Chippewa Falls 13-1 in the first-place game of the Marshfield Junior Legion Tournament on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.

Devyn Palmer, Mitch Wilhelm, and Isaiah Baierl each went 3-for-3, and Ryan Zickert and Will Voss each had two hits for the Blue Devils, who are now 15-5 this summer.

Baierl and Voss each had three RBIs, and Mason Coffren and Zickert drove in a pair of runs each in the victory.

Marshfield scored three times in the second inning and added 10 more in the third.

Caden Schillinger earned the win on the mound, striking out two in four innings.

Marshfield wraps up its regular season with a Wisconsin Valley Legion League doubleheader against D.C. Everest at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The Blue Devils will compete in the 17U Junior Regional 2 Tournament starting Wednesday at Stevens Point. Marshfield plays Stevens Point in its opening game of the double-elimination tournament at 7:30 p.m. Play will continue through Saturday with the winner moving on to the state tournament, which will be held in Marshfield on July 19-23.
