Marshfield Junior Legion splits twinbill at Stevens Point

Wilhelm hits home run in Game 2 win for Blue Devils

STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion Junior Blue Devils split a doubleheader with Stevens Point on Monday night, losing 4-1 and winning 13-5 in the twinbill at Bukolt Park.

Marshfield (10-5, 7-4 Wisconsin Valley Legion League) was held to four hits in the opener and scored its only run in the fifth inning.

In the second game, the Blue Devils hit their stride offensively with 13 hits. Marshfield trailed 4-0 after three innings before scoring six times in the fourth to take the lead for good. The Blue Devils added a pair of runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to win going away.

Logan Schreiner went the distance for Marshfield, striking out four and walking two, to earn the victory.

Mason Coffren went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs; Mitch Wilhelm hit a home run and drove in three; and Riley Boushack had a double, a triple, and also drove in three runs for Marshfield.

The Blue Devils host Merrill at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Field.
