MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team swept a non-league doubleheader from Holmen on Saturday, winning 4-1 and 9-8 at Jack Hackman Field.

Hunter Korger tossed a complete game in the opener, striking out five and scattering five hits without a walk to earn the victory for Marshfield, which is now 4-0 to start the 2017 season.

Logan Jakobi and Jacob Neve each had two hits for the Blue Devils. Jakobi scored twice, and Jared Klein drove in two runs as well.

In Game 2, Marshfield led 9-3 after six innings before Holmen’s bats erupted to make it tight.

Holmen scored five runs before Marshfield’s Jake Brueggen struck out the final batter of the game to earn the save for Neve, who was the winner after throwing six innings.

Brueggen had three hits and scored twice at the plate for Marshfield, Jared Johnsrud scored three times, Klein was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Conner Berry and Korger each drove in a pair for the Blue Devils.

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hackman Field.
