MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 Junior Legion baseball team split a pair of games with Plover on Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield won 7-1 and lost 11-8 in the Wisconsin Valley Legion League doubleheader, its third-straight split of league twin bills to start the 2017 season.
In the opener, Mason Coffren struck out 13 in 5 2/3 innings to earn the victory.
Devyn Palmer had two RBIs, and Tyler Spaeth had two hits for the Blue Devils.
In Game 2, Marshfield scored five times in the first inning but could not hold on as Plover went ahead for good with a five-run third and added three in the sixth to put away the win.
Jacob Earll was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Marshfield.
Marshfield hosts Antigo for a nonleague doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Hackman Field.
