Angell family to chair United Way campaign

MARSHFIELD — For the second year in a row, a family will lead the Marshfield Area United Way fundraising campaign. Jason and Kim Angell and their children Parker and Addie will serve as campaign drive chairs this fall.
Jason and Kim, both natives of Rhinelander, have been members of the Marshfield community for the past nine years. Jason is the director of Development Services for the city of Marshfield, and Kim is an X-ray technologist at the hospital. Parker, 10, and Addie, 8, attend Washington Elementary School. Both children enjoy playing sports, being outdoors, and hanging out with their friends.
At first, the family felt conflicted about the opportunity to be drive chairs for the United Way campaign.
“We have always been ones to try and offer our assistance to others in any way possible, and we are trying to raise our kids with the same understanding, but with our (and our children’s) busy schedules and the big shoes left to fill by the Holm family and drive chairs before them left us feeling overwhelmed,” said Kim.
After much consideration the Angells decided that leading the United Way campaign was not only a great responsibility but also a great opportunity to give back to the community and for their children to be involved with something that will instill values within them that will stay with them forever.
Jason has been volunteering with Marshfield Area United Way for the past seven years. Currently, he serves as a member of the organization’s board of directors; chairs the Allocation Committee, which reviews and recommends funding to be provided to community programs; and helps with both the Nutrition On Weekends program and the annual backpack and school supply drive.
With all his knowledge of and experience with Marshfield Area United Way, Jason felt this was an opportunity to share with the community the importance and impact of supporting United Way.
“There is no other organization within our community that touches so many lives in our community. Every dollar donated to United Way stays within our community to help every generation receive a multitude of services,” said Jason.
“Our family is eager to learn more about each of the organizations that are supported by United Way and the services each provides. We also want to learn how we can help them continue to succeed,” he added.
“As drive chairs, we feel that we have been given a unique opportunity to see how the generosity of others can impact the lives of so many within our community,” Kim said. “We look forward to enjoying every moment of the campaign and look forward to this experience as a family.”
