The Spencer brother-sister duo of Noah Zastrow and Hannah Zastrow will be busy this weekend as each competes in four events at the 2017 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of La Crosse.

Events begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Noah Zastrow, a senior, will be participating in the Division 3 pole vault, among the first field events on Friday. Later in the day he will run in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles preliminaries, and on Saturday morning he will take part in the D-3 long jump.

He is looking for his fourth medal in the pole vault after finishing third in his first two tries and second last year as a junior.

Hannah Zastrow, a freshman, will start her first state meet experience with competition in the Division 3 girls high jump Friday morning. Also Friday, she will be in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries and the 400 relay preliminaries along with teammates Delaney Eichman, Kaily Northup, and Johanna Ellefson.

On Saturday, Hannah Zastrow will compete in the D-3 girls pole vault, as will teammate Ellefson, the defending D-3 state champion in the event.

Spencer will also have a number of other Division 3 participants.

Sophomore Logan Zschernitz will compete in the boys discus on Friday and the boys shot put on Saturday. Teammate Max Johnson, a senior, will also be in the shot put on Saturday.

Jacob Miller will join Noah Zastrow in the pole vault competition Friday, and Aaron Pankratz will run in the 400.

The 800 girls relay team of Lauren Faber, Liz Endreas, Eichman, and Northup will compete in prelims Friday morning.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic has one person in the state meet. Freshman Jessica Jakopin will take part in the D-3 girls shot put on Friday afternoon.

Auburndale also has a large group of girls at state.

Rachel Gronemeyer will be in the D-3 400 for the second year in a row and is part of the 1,600 relay team, along with Isabella Jewell, Kali Karl, and Isabelle Hilber, that will both run Friday.

Karl will be in two other events for the Apaches. She will run in the 800 finals Friday afternoon, and will join Taylor Stanton, Vanessa Mitchell, and Macie Schmeiser in the 3,200 relay on Saturday morning.

Hilber is also in the 200 meters, which run preliminaries Friday afternoon.

In Division 2, Cade Lehman is Stratford’s only representative at the meet. He will take part in the boys 3,200 meters Friday afternoon.

Marshfield has three athletes at the state meet. Junior Meg Bryan and freshman Gracie Holland will participate in the Division 1 girls long jump on Saturday morning, and junior Skyler Theisen will run in the 300 hurdles preliminaries late Friday afternoon.
