STEVENS POINT — The Auburndale softball team was a few innings away from another possible upset in the WIAA playoffs when the Stevens Point Pacelli offense got on a roll.

With the score tied 3-3, No. 2 seed Pacelli ripped off an eight-run bottom of the sixth inning and went on to beat the No. 6 Apaches 11-3 in a WIAA Division 4 softball regional final Friday.

Pacelli (17-8) moves on to a D-4 sectional semifinal at top-seed Horicon (24-3) on Tuesday. Auburndale’s season ends with a 10-9 record.

Pacelli struck first with three runs in the fourth inning against Auburndale starter Alexis Soppe.

Auburndale responded with three runs in the fifth, and the score remained tied until Pacelli touched up Apaches reliever Maggie Willfahrt in the sixth.

Mackenzie Raab had two RBIs, and Rachael Bolder had two hits and scored a run for Auburndale.
