Assumption shuts out Columbus Catholic in WIAA Division 4 baseball regional quarterfinal
Dons held to two hits, finish season 5-13

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Wisconsin Rapids Assumption scored three runs over the first two innings, and that was enough as the Royals downed Marshfield Columbus Catholic 3-0 in a WIAA Division 4 baseball regional quarterfinal Thursday at Witter Field.
Assumption (10-7) moves on to a regional semifinal May 30 at No. 1 seed Pittsville (20-4). The season comes to an end for Columbus Catholic, which finishes 5-13.
Ethan Peters threw 6 2/3 innings of the shutout for Assumption, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits in the dominating performance. Joe Grundhoffer got the final out for the Royals.
Charles Payant suffered the loss for the Dons, striking out six and walking seven.
