GILMAN — The Spencer baseball team was held to three hits in a 2-1 loss to Gilman in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday.
Hunter Luepke allowed just one unearned run and struck out 11 in 5 2/3 innings before giving way to Tanner Kleinschmidt, who allowed the game-winning run to Gilman (12-8, 9-6 Cloverbelt East) in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Dom Wichlacz, Luekpe, and Kleinschmidt each had a hit for the Rockets (7-9, 7-7 Cloverbelt Conference East Division), and Kleinschmidt drove in Luepke for Spencer’s lone run.
Spencer hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic in its Cloverbelt East and regular-season finale on Monday before opening the postseason with a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal Thursday at home against Colby.
