Step back in time: May 14-20 in Hub City history

Ten years ago

More than 100 people participated in the second annual Nurses Walk/Run that was held May 16 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. The walk route began and finished in the hospital’s conference center with walkers circling the medical complex and then proceeding to the Wildwood Trail for about a four-mile walk/run.

Twenty-five years ago

Forty-one seniors graduated in the Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School class of 1992 when the school held its graduation ceremony May 30. Speaking at the commencement were Brian Hoerneman, valedictorian, and co-salutatorians Jill Wing and Becky Haffa.

Fifty years ago

Mothers of band and chorus members at the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County were guests of their music students as the groups performed “A Sentimental Journey.” Included in the program were a selection by the double trio of Kitty Bores, Sandy Wendy, Carol Hartl, Kathy Snelling, Carla Kleiber, and Bonnie Fehrenbach.

Seventy-five years ago

According to Chester A. Davis, the president of the Marshfield Commercial Club, W.A. Uthmeier was named chairman of a committee to study the feasibility of a North Wood County War Chest. Working with Uthmeier on the committee would be Marshfield residents Prince Koenig, Steve Miller, J.L. Falcon, Howard A. Quirt, John L. Stauber, and C.W. Mau.
