A press release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office

NEILLSVILLE — A 3-year-old child from rural Loyal has died as a result of a farm accident that occurred yesterday at W3143 Popple River Road in the town of Beaver.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a 3-year-old child that had been run over by a skid steer loader at about 11:26 a.m. on May 15. Initial investigation indicates that a 5-year-old child was operating a skid steer loader in a field while his younger brother, the 3-year-old, was picking rocks with their mother and putting them in the front bucket of the loader.

It is believed the 3-year-old went to pick up a rock between the front tire of the skid steer loader and the bucket. The 5-year-old did not see his brother and accidentally ran him over.

The child received fatal injuries from being ran over and was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Richard Schleifer.

The Loyal Area Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices. The investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices.
