THORP — The Spencer softball team won a pair of games at the GT Slam Fest on Saturday.
The Rockets beat Thorp 4-1 and Athens 5-3 to extend their winning streak to 16 games.
Spencer’s Tiffany Meinders struck out six and allowed just one hit in the win over Thorp.
Courtney Buss, Jenna Schober, Sadie Mercier, and Katie Fleischman each had two hits, and Schober had two RBIs in the victory.
Meinders also threw a complete game against Athens, striking out seven and walking just one.
Fleischman was 4-for-4 and scored twice, and Meinders had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockets.
“It was a great day of softball today,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “We were able to play pretty well against two very good teams. It is great to be in a tournament (hosted by Gilman and Thorp) like that before the playoffs.
“Katie Flieschman had a great day at the plate. She is having a terrific senior year. Tiffany pitched well, and the defense was relatively solid behind her.”
Spencer is off until Thursday when it plays at Marshfield Columbus Catholic in its Cloverbelt Conference East Division finale. The Rockets will finish their regular season at home Friday against Stratford.
