Marshfield track teams sweep titles at Wisconsin Dells

The Marshfield girls track team won the team title at the Heather Johnson Invitational on Friday at Wisconsin Dells High School.

Tigers have five event winners

WISCONSIN DELLS — The Marshfield track teams combined for five victories and 11 runner-up finishes as they went on to sweep the boys and girls titles at the Heather Johnson Invitational on Friday at Wisconsin Dells High School.

The meet was Marshfield’s regular-season finale as the Tigers will compete in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at Goerke Field in Stevens Point on Tuesday.

The Marshfield girls finished with 119.5 points, outpacing host Wisconsin Dells by 22.5 points. The Marshfield boys won the team title by 12.5 points over second-place Medford.

The Marshfield girls had two victories. Freshman Gracie Holland won the pole vault with a vault of 9 feet and also teamed with Kaydee Johnson, Maddie Nikolai, and Mariah Goeppinger to win the 800-meter relay in 1:49.58.

Meg Bryan finished second in the triple jump (34 feet 6 inches), Jamila Ougayour was second in the discus (104-2), Stephanie Rhodes was the runner-up in the high jump (5-2), and Alexa Aumann added a pair of second-places finishes in the 800 (2:24.44) and the 1,600 (5:33.64) for the Tigers.

On the boys side, Adam Maki won the pole vault (11-6), Quinton Alexander was first in the shot put (46-10), and Jon Wittman won the discus (139-7) for Marshfield.

Skyler Theisen was second in both the 110 hurdles (16.15 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (41.95), Wittman took second in the shot put (44-0), Alexander was second in the discus (138-3), and Dawson Tysver finished second in the pole vault (11-6) for Marshfield. Also placing second for the Tigers were the 400 relay team of Alexander, Blaine Nienast, Caden Pearce, and Isaiah King (45.45) and the 800 relay team of Pearce, King, Nienast, and Austin Mientke (1:34.63).
