SPENCER — The Spencer softball team has clinched its third-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship after downing Colby 16-6 on Friday at Spencer High School.

Spencer is now 14-4 overall and 13-0 in the Cloverbelt East with one game remaining: at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday. Colby remains winless at 0-12 overall and 0-11 in the conference.

Spencer put the game away early, scoring 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Cinnamin Harwood, Katie Fleischman, and Courtney Buss each had two hits, and Harwood drove in four runs for the Rockets. Jenna Schober, Tiffany Meinders, and Faith Bauer all had two RBIs for Spencer.

“I am very proud of this team for their accomplishment tonight,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “They have worked very hard to get here.”

Spencer will participate in a tournament at Thorp on Saturday. The Rockets will play Thorp at 10 a.m., Athens at 2 p.m., and Marathon at 4 p.m. as it looks to extend its 14-game winning streak.
