Marshfield boys tennis whips Wausau West, wraps up unbeaten WVC dual season
Tigers sweep three doubles matches

WAUSAU — The Marshfield boys tennis team wrapped up an undefeated Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a 6-1 victory over Wausau West on Thursday at West High School.
Marshfield won all but the No. 1 singles match to finish the WVC season a perfect 5-0. The Tigers will compete at the conference tournament May 18 at Wausau East.
Sam Haessly (No. 2 singles), Eric Myklejord (No. 3 singles), and Braedon Corteen (No. 4 singles) all won in straight sets for Marshfield.
In doubles, the Tigers’ three teams lost just two games.

Singles: 1. Luke Bailey (WW) def. Evan Fait 6-4, 6-2; 2. Sam Haessly (MAR) def. Ben Brown 6-3, 6-1; 3. Eric Myklejord (MAR) def. Luke Halverson 6-0, 6-3; 4. Braedon Corteen (MAR) def. Fenchi Yang 6-3, 6-3.
Doubles: 1. Jared Cordova-Derek Reckner (MAR) def. Tate Rauman-Eddie Xiong 6-1, 6-0; 2. John Fay-Will Fay (MAR) def. Wesley Spitzer-Josh Patrick 6-0, 6-0; 3. Luke Kaiser-Calvin Lawler (MAR) def. Nathan Evers-Tyler Marquardt 6-0, 6-1.
Records: Marshfield 5-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference; Wausau West 1-4 WVC.
